王延博士在山东农业大学获得学士学位,浙江大学获得硕士和博士学位并在佐治亚大学取得博士后学历。
在取得博士和博士后学历后,他成为JBT食品股份有限公司(采后农产品行业内具有世界领先技术和产品的的商业供应商)的采后生理专家,并主持研究采后生理紊乱和新鲜农产品的病理衰变及其控制等。在JBT食品科技股份有限公司任职9年后,王博士接受了俄勒冈州大学的邀请,成为园艺部门的教授。
他的主要研究内容包括:
1)储存/运输环境的温度和大气调节;
2)开发和提高采后的化学和非化学处理方法;
3)通过栽培措施提高和保存果实品质,减少失调和腐烂,并增加树木果实的市场化。他已在专业期刊发表了23篇论文。


Mid-Columbia Research and Extension Center postharvest physiologist Yan Wang has died

Yan Wang, tree fruit postharvest physiologist at Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center, died April 27. He was 51.
Yan was born in Shandong province, China, in 1965. He graduated from Shangdong Agricultural University in 1986 with a degree in horticulture. He studied for his master’s in horticulture from Zhejiang University while living and working at the Beijing Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences. He received his degree in 1989, and also that year he was married to Caixia Li. x
In 1995 Yan became a visiting scholar at the University of Georgia. In 2001 he earned his doctorate there in post-harvest physiology; also that year his daughter, Sarah, was born.
He worked for nine years at JBT Food Tech in Riverside, California, and then joined OSU’s Department of Horticulture in 2010 as a research scientist at the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center (MCAREC) in Hood River. His work focused on enhancing quality, storability and marketability of pears and sweet cherries grown in the Pacific Northwest.
“Yan was a top-notch scientist who was widely respected by his professional colleagues,” said MCAREC director Steve Castagnoli. “He was well liked by all because of his kind, thoughtful and gentle nature.”
Yan is survived by his wife Caixia Li, daughter Sarah Wang, father Zuokai Wang, and brother Gian Wang and family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wenmin Zhang.
